Ashes

Ashes

I died today
And in the dying
The ashes I knew
Were scattered
Across the way
Dust into dust
And then all those
Hopes and dreams
That I had spoken
Through all my days
Were woven into one
Pathway that touched
Every life providence
Had crossed upon mine
And remembrance breathed
Its last into my heart
Remember that you are dust
It said to me with one voice
And yet, I remembered
We are so much more
Touched with every life
Every breath and moment
Shared in time and place
From dust we came
So then to dust we return
But the inbetween
Oh gods, the inbetween
Is just so much more.
